Massage
We use a combination of different types of massage when treating the human body; commonly know as Sports Massage or Remedial Massage. Both these types of therapies are advanced techniques & should not be confused with therapeutic treatment that you might receive, at a spa for instance.
Sports Massage is the term applied to the discipline of using massage for the specific benefit of all sports and exercise participants. It covers the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body e.g. Muscles, ligaments and tendons. It is also sometimes referred to as Deep Tissue Massage, although deep tissue is just one aspect of sports massage. Remedial Massage therapy gently treats the muscle tissue. Because it works deeper than regular relaxing massage, its effects are usually deeper and longer lasting. Remedial massage can be used to prevent injury and also to help heal injury. Covering both muscular and skeletal dysfunctions, include fibrositis, spondylitis, arthritis, frozen shoulder, muscular cramps, whiplash, muscular atrophy, injuries etc.
Sports massage was designed for athletes, but is now widely used by everybody who suffers with chronic pain, injury or range-of-motion issues. Sports therapy was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage therapy emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.
Many elite athletes consider sports massage an essential part of their training and recovery routine. Theses athletes report that a sports massage helps them train more effectively improve performance, prevent injury, and recovery quickly. Historically, competitive and professional athletes have been some of the biggest users of sports massage. Today, therapeutic sports massage is available to many recreational athletes who enjoy sports massage on a regular basis.
The length of the treatment may depend on the severity of your symptoms. All initial treatments will include a case history, and will take 50 - 60 minutes depending on the body part and condition.
